He was then transferred to Carolinas Medical Center where he died. Authorities report that the extent of his injuries was not consistent with a simple fall.

Mr. Justice is the deceased child’s stepfather.  On Friday afternoon a call was received by the Cleveland county Emergency Medical Services. When EMS arrived to the scene they contacted the Cleveland County Sherriff’s office to notify them of the severity of the child’s situation. EMS transported the toddler emergently to Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He was airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. Sadly, the toddler passed away from his injuries the following day.

Bloggers write that there have been reports made to the Department of Social Services within the past few months because Swafford’s relatives were concerned for the toddler’s safety and feared that he may end up mortally injured from child abuse.
