In Lee County, Geoffrey Scott Hutson, 41-year-old, remains in Lee County Jail charged with cruelty toward a child causing great bodily harm. His 7-week-old infant daughter remains in All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburgh for treatment of skull fractures and multiple blunt wounds. Initially, she was taken emergently to HealthPark Medical Center where doctors treated her for non-accidental child abuse injuries and transferred her to All Children’s Hospital for critical care. Mr. Hutson allegedly admitted injuring the baby because the infant was crying while the infant’s mother was sleeping.
Inconsolable crying is a known trigger for parent’s with poor impulse control to inflict serious abusive head trauma on their small children.
