In California, Joseph Michael Wise pled not guilty to charges in connection to alleged child abuse. Mr. Wise was arraigned in Fullerton and charged with inflicting great bodily harm on a baby. He remains in custody in Santa Ana. Prosecutors allege that Mr. Wise shook the 8-month-old child while in his care. The baby’s mother was not home at the time of the non-accidental injury. News stories report that emergency personnel emergently transported the baby to University of California Irvine Medical Center. Her condition was very critical, but she survived the injuries but is reported to have significant health problems as a result.
