In Colorado, Molly Midyette was sentenced to 16 years in prison because of a failure to seek medical help for fatal child abuse injuries suffered by her son, Jason, in 2006. The baby’s father, Alex Midyette, faces trial for child abuse charges this week.
Prosecutors state that Alex Midyette kicked his wife in the stomach while she was pregnant with his son. Prosecutors also intend to bring evidence to trial that indicates Alex Midyette had used cocaine and was viewing pornography hours before the baby was brought to the hospital with fatal injuries including a skull fracture and broken bones.
