In Indiana, Brent Sims, 19-year-old, faces charges of murder and neglect of a dependent in the child abuse death of toddler Terrell Lamont Hillman. News stories report that Mr. Sims allegedly beat the toddler during the course of the day while the child’s mother was at work, then allegedly took the unconscious boy to his mother’s place of employment. EMS was called at that point and the unconscious toddler was taken to St. Mary’s Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
News stories report the autopsy revealed that little Terrell had suffered a severe brain injury, fractured arm, dislocated vertebrae, external and internal hemorrhages with multiple contusions to the liver and ribs. When confronted by investigators about the autopsy results, Mr. Sims told them the child wouldn’t stop crying and changed his originally story about what he knew of how the child’s tragic condition developed.
