In Maryland, Jerome Jermain Wallace and Natarsha Farmer are charged with murder and child abuse in connection with the death of 22-month-old Janaya Wallace. Emergency responders arrived to their home to find Janaya unresponsive. She was transported emergently to Johns Hopkins Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after arriving. News stories report Janaya had injuries consistent with non-accidental trauma. Mr. Wallace and Ms. Farmer are both charged with first and second-degree murder and first-degree child abuse resulting in death, in addition to assault charges. The defendants are held in the Baltimore City Detention Center. Their hearing is scheduled for today.
