In Nebraska, Joshua Burnette Ironshell faces first-degree assault and felony child abuse charges in connection with the child abuse injuries sustained by two-year-old, Darrek Andrew. Darrek was taken to Bryan LGH Medical Center West emergency room in September. He was emergently transferred to Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in Omaha for head trauma including brain bleeding, spinal fractures and multiple contusions. Presently, Darrek continues to suffer from residual vision and balance problems. He is in foster care under the protective custody of Health and Human Services. Darrek’s injuries were allegedly sustained while he was showering with the perpetrator. The boy’s mother, Katrina Darasouk, has not been charged yet. The investigation is still in progress.
