Washoe County Deputies are reportedly investigating suspicious circumstances of a baby boy not breathing, and they believe his babysitter had something to do with it.
On Tuesday, Washoe County Sheriff’s Deputies reportedly responded to the 700 block of Renoir Drive in Sun Valley on a report of a 1-year-old boy not breathing. The child was transported to a local hospital where it was determined that he had sustained serious injuries consistent with physical abuse.
Deputies reportedly learned that the child had been in the care, custody and control of a local "babysitter" named Maria Melendrez-Anguiano, who resides in the 7200 block of Leonardo Court. Melendrez-Anguiano is not a licensed daycare provider.
Sheriff's Detectives were called out to continue the investigation. Upon completion of the investigation, Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detectives determined that Probable Cause existed to arrest Melendrez-Anguiano for Felony Child Abuse with Substantial Bodily Harm.
