In Ohio, Vonda Ferguson faces trial for charges in connection with the abuse of her five adopted children. News stories report Ms. Ferguson is charged with 33 counts of felonious assault, child endangering, permitting child abuse and rape. The abuse allegedly occurred between 2000 and 2004. She is accused of hitting her children with hammers and belts, forcing them to eat excrement and burning them with irons. Her husband, James Ferguson, is currently serving time in prison for similar charges. He received a 65 year sentence. The children were removed from their home in 2004 and custody of the children was relinquished in 2005.
