In Philadelphia, pediatrician Cindy Christian provided testimony regarding the fatal injuries and infection suffered by 10-year-old Charlenni Ferreira. News stories report at the time of her death, Charlenni suffered from infection and multiple non-accidental injuries at various stages of healing from head-to-toe. Her stepmother, Margarita Garabito is charged with her murder. Her father, Domingo Ferreira was arrested in the case, but committed suicide while in jail facing charges of murder. It is alleged that Charlenni was a victim of physical and sexual abuse.
