In Utah, Cameron Nielson is charged with aggravated murder for the death of his infant son, Jason.

In Utah County, Cameron Nielson is charged with aggravated murder for the death of his six-week old son, Jason. Mr. Nielson could face the death penalty. Jason was taken to Primary Children’s Medical Center on May 11, 2008 for critical injuries. He passed away on October 17, 2008. 

According the news stories, the Jason had sustained 14 – 16 fractures of his ribs, 3 skull fractures, a left tibia fracture, lacerated liver and multiple brain injuries including subdural hematomas and brain lacerations. There was evidence of prior child abuse as well.  

Approximately four million children are abused annually. Less than half of those cases get reported.
