In Wisconsin, Samantha Gardner, 28 year-old, was charged with involvement in a child abuse case involving her boyfriend and his teen-age daughter. Authorities in Racine allege that Samantha Gardner watched her boyfriend beat his teen-age daughter with a bed post on January 22, 2009. The girl suffered a broken arm and severe bruising. She managed to sneak out and seek help for the injuries. The teen-ager is now in the protective custody of the Racine County Human Services Department. The boyfriend was arrested and charged with child abuse in January. Gardner faces charges of party to physical abuse of a child, party to the crime of substantial battery and failure to act to prevent bodily harm to a child. She faces up to 24 years in prison if convicted.
