In Wisconsin, Trial begins for former day care owner accused of abusing children in her care | Day Care Injury

A lawyer for a former Fitchburg day care owner reportedly told jurors Tuesday that there's little evidence of injuries to some of the seven children she is alleged to have abused, and even less evidence that she caused any of the injuries that were substantiated.
But prosecutors allege that Michelle Christensen, 42, had no explanation for scrapes, bumps or bruises that were seen on the infants and toddlers and said that Christensen also blamed other people or even inanimate objects for causing the injuries.
Christensen is charged with seven counts of child abuse for events that allegedly occurred at her in-home day care between 2007 and 2010. Her trial, before Dane County Circuit Judge Nicholas McNamara, reportedly began Tuesday with jury selection and opening statements from lawyers. It is scheduled to last into next week.
