Ms. Starishevsky says teach your children there will be no secrets. Don’t dress them with personalized accessories. Teach your children the correct names for private body parts. Practice “what if” scenarios. Teach your children their name, address and phone number/parental cell phone number. Teach children what to do if they get lost. Teach children internet safety. Let children express their own affection, never force them to hug the relatives, etc…Teach children that adults do not need to stop and ask children for help. Teach children the buddy system.
