Juan Jose Cabrera is being held for child abuse related-charges for the severe injuries sustained by his baby daughter while in his care. Her injuries were consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome.

Juan Jose Cabrera is being held for child abuse related-charges for the severe injuries sustained by his baby daughter while in his care. His daughter was just 8-weeks old when she sustained retinal bleeding, broken vertebrae, multiple bruises and bleeding near her skull. Investigators report the injuries were consistent with Shaken Baby Syndrome. News papers report that Mr. Cabrera is charged with assault and battery on a child under the age of 14.

The infant’s condition remains guarded and she likely will have visual disabilities. According to news stories, the baby was evaluated Wednesday or Thursday at Boston’s Children’s Hospital at which time the Department of Child and Family Services and the police department were notified.

Allegedly, Mr. Cabrera admitted to investigators that he shook the baby.
