In Tooele, Kayleb Curran, now two years-old, is struggling with the day-to-day challenges that victims of child abuse endure. News stories report just seven months ago he was violently shaken by his mother’s boyfriend, George Garcia, and sustained a severe head injury. He was flown to Primary Children’s Medical Center for treatment. Kayleb is fed by a feeding tube and requires close special 24-hour care now. According to prosecutors, Mr. Garcia has agreed to plead guilty to reckless child abuse. A Tooele deputy county attorney said based on Mr. Garcia’s actions the plea bargain was accepted.

While women are more frequently responsible for child abuse, men tend to inflict more serious injuries on their victims when they abuse.
