Vehicles made after the year 2002 have a LATCH system to secure child seating systems. LATCH is an acronym for Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children. This is a system that can secure the safety seat without using the seat belts. However, depending on the make of the automobile and safety seat, your child safety seat may still require the use of your safety belts.
