A Southern California father has reportedly been charged with murdering his 5-week-old daughter after she was taken to a hospital for broken bones.

City News Service reportedly says 19-year-old Matthew Wojcik was charged Monday with one count of murder. He also faces assault and child abuse charges. If convicted, he faces up to life in prison.

Wojcik reportedly remains in jail on $1 million bail.

Wojcik reportedly brought his daughter last month to Children's Hospital Los Angeles, where she was treated for multiple broken bones and brain swelling. Caregivers called police to report possible child abuse. The infant succumbed to her injuries after being taken off life support.

The baby's mother, Elizabeth Carter, was reportedly arrested last week and charged with one count of child abuse causing death.
