Cheryl Nicaise and Richard Nicaise reportedly appeared Friday in Broomfield County Court where, in a deal with prosecutors, the couple pleaded guilty to the two charges of child abuse, knowingly or recklessly, without injury, in exchange for 16 counts of misdemeanor child abuse being dropped.
The Nicaises reportedly turned themselves in to police on June 9, after police say an investigation prompted by reports from the state department of social services, uncovered the couple was watching 10 children more than their license permitted.
County Judge Amy Bockman, to establish a factual basis for the plea agreement reached Friday, asked Deputy District Attorney Lisa Hunt to summarize what activity the Nicaises engaged in that led to their arrests and subsequent guilty pleas.
