Kendra's Law went into effect a year ago and the Law reportedly requires home daycare providers to take an annual two-hour training class that teaches them CPR and other extremely important child safety measures. The course is reportedly offered by Department of Social Services in Aiken County South Carolina and is absolutely free of charge.
The law reportedly went into effect after a home daycare provider reportedly slapped a 1-year-old little girl so hard it caused her permanent brain injury. Reportedly, Laura Hudson with the South Carolina Crime Victims Council says the provider did not call EMS for help or the family to tell them what happened until hours after the incident.
A news station out of Augusta, reportedly found 51 family child care home providers in the South Carolina viewing area and sadly only 14 of those 51 have reportedly taken the course required under Kendra's Law.
