In Illinois | Final day-care trial witness: Boy's injury came minutes before he fell ill |

Following emotional testimony Tuesday from the parents of a woman charged with murdering a child at a Lincolnshire day care center, a medical expert took the stand to say he believes the fatal blow to the boy’s head came just minutes before he fell ill.

Melissa Calusinski, 25, of Carpentersville, is on trial in Lake County for first-degree murder, accused of causing toddler Benjamin Kingan’s death by slamming his head to the ground at the day care center where she worked. The jury is expected to begin deliberating her fate on Wednesday.
