In Summit County, Kenneth Shears is charged with murder for the death of his infant daughter, Angelina. The five-month old infant died this past Wednesday night. An autopsy has been conducted. New stories report that he was by himself with the baby at the time the injuries were sustained. The investigation revealed that there was prior contact with county social workers due to a complaint filed earlier in the fall. That investigation failed to substantiate a claim for child abuse.
Well-adjusted parenting and caregiver styles are learned behaviors. While women are more likely and more frequently the perpetrators of child abuse; men tend to abuse more severely. Male abusers, in particular non-biological males, are more often responsible for severe child abuse outcomes.
