Long-Term Effects of Abusive Head Trauma on a Shaken Baby

Although there are many other side effects of shaken baby syndrome that may not be physical, the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome lists several of the physical consequences of abusive head trauma on its website. Below are some of the long-term side effects or consequences of shaken baby syndrome:

• behavioral disorders

• blindness or impaired vision

• disabilities in speech

• impaired hearing

• seizures

• death.
