In Florida, Richard McTear, Jr. allegedly has a violent criminal past. Suspected child abuse had been reported to the Department of Children and Families prior to the death of baby Emanuel Murray. Emanuel was only three-months old when he died. The details of the previous child abuse complaint have not been released. However, the death of this baby has been the subject of an intense investigation after his body was found on Interstate 275. Mr. McTear has been charged in this homicide case. News stories report that Mr. McTear showed up at the apartment where Emanuel lived with his mother, Jasmine Bedwell. Whereupon he allegedly had a violent outburst, attacked Ms. Bedwell and threw Emanuel onto a concrete floor. Then allegedly picked Emanuel up off of the floor and drove away with the child in his car. As if that act wasn’t horrific enough, Mr. McTear allegedly flung the infant out of the car on Intestate 275 near Fowler Avenue. His body was found by witnesses driving along the interstate near the scene.

By way of history, allegedly, Mr. McTear was on probation for felony battery charges, and had recently become the subject of a probation violation matter and a fugitive on the run. Reportedly, he had a well-established history of domestic violence.

Mr. McTear may face the death penalty in this case. He was denied bail and remains in custody.  He faces multiple charges for domestic violence, child abuse and murder.
