In Ohio, Shawn Smith, Sr. faces charges of felonious assault in connection with the alleged child abuse injuries his infant son, Shawn Smith, Jr. has sustained. The five month-old was found to have injuries consistent with abusive head trauma after his parents brought him to St. Vincent Medical Center’s emergency department. He was noted to have a skull fracture and bleeding in his brain. Mr. Smith is currently held in the Lucas County Jail. His son remains hospitalized in serious condition.
