In Philadelphia, Margarita Garabito faces child abuse charges in connection with the death of her stepdaughter Charlenni Ferreira. News stories report Charlenni’s injuries were extensive and resulted from chronic beatings over time. When she passed away she had multiple rib fractures, a skull fracture and skeletal deformities from previous injuries. Her injuries were in different phases of healing indicative of multiple abusive events. News stories report Charlenni had suffered a scalp laceration that was concealed by a hair weave. Both parents were arrested in this case. However, shortly after Charlenni’s father was arrested, he committed suicide in jail.
