In Wisconsin, Crystal Keith faces prison for child abuse and murder charges. Toddler, Christopher Thomas struggled to survive, while his two-year-old sister succumbs to her injuries. Ms. Keith faces charges of first-degree reckless homicide and abuse of a child, including intentional causation of great bodily harm. Allegedly, she admitted during the police investigation to knowing that she was doing wrong by her physical actions against the two children placed in her care.

Ironically, in a move to protect the children, the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare removed the two children from their mother’s home and placed the children in foster care with Crystal Keith and her husband. Within weeks of the placement, Keith started abusing the children. Allegedly, the child welfare caseworkers are responsible for visiting the children at least once a month.

The deceased two-year-old girl sustained mortal injuries from torturous infliction of wounds on her body allegedly at the hands of Ms. Keith. During the trial, jurors were shown pictures of the deceased child’s bodily burns and multiple fractures. Jurors turned their heads, wiped the tears from their eyes and some left the room. The deceased child’s left leg was broken in three places and her left arm was completely broken just under the shoulder.  She had ligature marks on her arm, neck, torso and leg. She had burns from her head to her toes.
