Non-accidental head trauma - Shaken Child Syndrome - older children and inflicted head traumaInflicted head injuries in abused older children have similarities and differences as compared to younger victims. This is true in part due to development/maturation of the musculoskeletal system and mechanism of injury inflicted by the perpetrators of abuse. Older children are physically larger and therefore may be physically abused in a different manner than infants and toddlers, but nonetheless may suffer abusive head trauma with retinal hemorrhage.
