Child death in California
Pursuant to California Penal Code section 11166.9, the California Department of Justice is responsible for the administration of the State Child Death Review Council (SCDRC). The Attorney General, in conjunction with other state departments, statewide associations and other selected public and private organizations, coordinates the activities of the Council. Among other duties, the council is responsible for overseeing the statewide coordination and integration of state and local efforts to address fatal child abuse and neglect, and to create a body of information to prevent child deaths. Currently, most California counties have Child Death Review Teams. Local Child Death Review Teams are primarily responsible for reviewing child fatality cases to determine their cause and develop strategies to reduce the incidents of child deaths.
The Keane Law Firm supports the important work done by the Child Death Review Teams, in their effort to prevent child deaths.
