Gilberto Beltran reportedly accepted the prosecution’s offer and pleaded guilty to one felony count of child abuse. Victorville Superior Court Judge John Tomberlin sentenced him Friday.
Tomberlin reportedly put Beltran on four-year probation and ordered him to complete a child abuse prevention and anger management programs.
In December, the baby’s grandmother reportedly heard a cracking sound from the child’s back and urged 20-year-old mother, Karina Venegas, to take the boy to the emergency room, according to sheriff’s officials. Doctors reported signs of ongoing child abuse, such as broken ribs and a broken clavicle.
