In Tennessee, Patrick Tripp, 42 year-old, was convicted of rape of a child, aggravated child abuse, aggravated child neglect, incest and sexual exploitation of a minor. The five year-old male victim was able to help the authorities with the investigation. In 2007, the five year-old boy was placed in the care of Tripp by the child’s mother. According to news stories, while the boy was in Tripp’s care, he sustained significant injuries to his “private parts”. The five year-old was also forced to drink hot pepper sauce and was whipped with a metal studded dog collar. Authorities found pornography and child pornography in the pedophile's room.

The child abuse occurred in the home of Tripp’s mother and stepfather. According to news stories, the elderly couple did not know the child abuse was taking place. They have been cooperating with the investigation.
