In Wisconsin, Salvador Ochoa will face homicide charges for the death of his 2-month-old daughter, Rubi Ochoa-Cervantes. Rubi died at the hospital on December 12, 2005. Allegedly, Mr. Ochoa told the baby’s mother he punched the baby in the stomach because she would not stop crying.

All too often the trigger for abusive parents to cause injury to a young child is parental frustration and poor impulse control in response to a baby crying and the disagreeable behavioral features observed in toddlers.

Well-adjusted parenting and caregiver styles are learned behaviors. While women are more likely and more frequently the perpetrators of child abuse; men tend to abuse more severely. Male abusers are more often responsible for severe child abuse outcomes.
