In California, Children’s Hospital Central California received a four million dollar pledge to fund child abuse prevention programs.  The hospital had recently faced cutbacks in the child abuse prevention clinic due to the current economy and state budget actions. Hospital representatives say this large monetary pledge will partially go towards the type of services that were cut when funding of independent based community organizations were lost. Injured children will be evaluated for child abuse in the Central Valley area where child abuse statistics show a notable increase in child abuse victims.
