In Oklahoma, Dr. Robert Block, child abuse medical expert, leads the way in bringing “correct science to the judicial system”. This year marks the beginning of a child-abuse subspecialty for the pediatric medical community. In November, eligible physicians will take the child abuse board examination in their final step towards becoming board certified in the medical subspecialty of child abuse. A leader among child abuse experts, Dr. Block, is pushing forward with the shared endeavor to cultivate evidence-based child abuse medical science.
Dr. Block currently is chairman of the pediatric department at the University of Oklahoma-Tulsa. He is chairman of the American Academy of Pediatrics’ committee on child abuse and neglect and currently is the Oklahoma’s chief child abuse examiner. He also serves on the Child Death Review Board in Oklahoma. He founded the Tulsa Children’s Justice Center that serves as a multidisciplinary child abuse evaluation center.
