In Colorado, Daven Beck is charged with murder for the death of his 5-month-old daughter, Cady Beck. Mr. Beck was arrested last Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder, child abuse and child abuse resulting in death. Cady was in his care when her physical condition began to deteriorate on December 22, 2008. According to details in the investigation, Cady was taken to a pediatric clinic when an employee of the clinic recommended she be taken to Delta Hospital. Physicians reported that Cady’s injuries were not consistent with accidental injury to the Aurora Police Department. In fact, Dr. Sandeep Narang documented that Cady was expected to not survive her injuries. The injuries noted during autopsy revealed retinal bleeding, acute subdural hematoma, bruising along the jaw and scalp with bleeding in the spinal column. The muscles of her neck had bruising and bleeding allegedly attributable severe flexion and extension of the neck. News stories report that Cady’s injuries may be consistent with single brutal blow.
