In Kentucky, Amanda Johnson is charged with murder and criminal abuse in connection with the death of her 23-month-old son, Stephen. Ms. Johnson is held in the Laurel County Detention Center. The cause of Stephen’s death is alleged to be blunt abdominal trauma. Ms. Johnson and the deceased boy’s father, Michael Troy, had two other children, prior to Stephen’s birth, which were removed from their home by child protective services in Michigan. Ms. Johnson and Mr. Troy have a history of prior contact with child protective service agencies and termination of parental rights.
