In Michigan, Shakela Butler has pled guilty to first-degree child abuse for the child abuse injuries of her infant daughter, Heaven Diamond. Ms. Butler’s case was heard in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court. The prosecuting attorney stated that Heaven Diamond suffered a skull fracture and brain injury from child abuse. News stories report that the infant had been abused on more than one occasion over a period of time. Ms. Butler remains in custody. The court is seeking to terminate Ms. Butler’s parental rights in June.
