In Michigan, two year-old Isaiah Martin has died. His mother, Tasha Martin, and her friend, Joseph Taylor, face first-degree murder and child abuse charges for Isaiah’s death. Martin and Taylor were still coping with the loss of their 7 month-old infant daughter who passed away last September 2007 from suffocation, when this tragedy unfolded.
On Friday, Isaiah was looking ill. His mother and Taylor took the boy to be seen at Henry Ford Hospital emergency department. He was evaluated and then transferred to Children’s Hospital of Michigan where he died. The Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office performed the autopsy and ruled that his death resulted from blunt force trauma.
Taylor was recently laid off from his job and Martin is working on graduating from high school. The child’s death continues to be under investigation as the pair remains in custody. Taylor faces additional charges related to drugs and weapons.
