In Oregon, Donald Cockrell and Michelle Smith face child abuse charges in connection with the death of three-year-old Alexis Pounder. According to news stories, the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of her death was physical and nutritional child abuse consistent with alleged blunt force trauma and acute starvation. The case will be heard in Clackamas County Circuit Court. After Alexis’s death the other children in the home were placed in protective custody.
