In Wisconsin, a three year-old girl was crying and then was smacked some more for continuing to cry, at least that is what Witt and Cantu allegedly told investigators. Stephanie Witt and Norbert Cruz Cantu, III have been arrested for child abuse. Witt’s three year-old daughter had to have emergency brain surgery for life-threatening injuries allegedly delivered by her own mother and her mother’s boyfriend.
Witt was arrested and charged with reckless child abuse and intentional child abuse. Cantu is charged with intentional child abuse. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene to find the three year-old unconscious with bruises located by her right ear and temple areas.
The child was transported emergently to Mercy Hospital and then taken to University of Wisconsin Children’s Hospital in Madison for emergency surgery. The child likely received permanent brain damage.
After the tragedy, Janesville Police arrested the duo. Unfortunately, they are both free on bond.
